Rounding up all those college-bound recruits

The High School PTA just helped organize and host the annual College

Round-Up on Nov. 3. For those of you who have never attended, more

than 100 colleges and universities from throughout the country send

representatives to the high school for an evening of questions and

answers.

It is an excellent opportunity for parents and students to take a

look at what is available. There really is a college for everyone.

Thank you to Jeannie Harrell and Nance Morrissey for stepping up and

getting everything together. It is a Herculean task. Thank you also

to all of you who set up and provided food for the representatives.

The PTA will be hosting a Holiday Boutique on Dec. 4 in the quad

and entrance areas of the High School. Once again Kerri Pellow and

Pam McKay are combing the area for affordable vendors to present

their wares. Both Pam and Kerri have assured me that it will be worth

your time to attend. Proceeds will benefit the computer lab, which is

in dire need of upgrades. Just think, you could have your holiday

shopping finished by early December. That leaves you with nearly

three weeks to spend on other projects you have been trying to avoid.

As a final note, the high school will be having its dedication of

the new construction projects at 9 a.m., Dec. 9. It is wonderful to

look around at all the school sites and see what our community has

accomplished. We can all be grateful and proud of what we have been

able to achieve by working together toward a common vision.
