OsCene opens at art museum

Laguna Art Museum’s “The OsCene: Contemporary Art and Culture in

Orange County,” will open Sunday and run through Feb. 27. The exhibit

includes paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, multi-media

installations, video/film, sound/music, architecture, fashion and

tattoo art.

The museum will host a reception at 1 p.m. Sunday “Sex Behind the

Curtain: Eroticism in the art of The OsCene.” Artists Sherie

Franssen, Lady, Sir and Her, Viet and Ed Templeton will discuss the

use of eroticism in their work.

The last survey exhibition of contemporary art in Orange County

was in 1979 by Newport Harbor Art Museum.

Festival of Mosaics call for participation

Under the direction of artist Gerard Stripling, locals can

participate in the installation of the mosaic mural “Mementos” to

experience creating a permanent piece of public art.

Installation will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 6, 7, 12, 13 and

14 at the Lang Park Community Center courtyard, 21540 Wesley Drive.

Participants must be at least 14 years old to participate.

‘Bella Italia’ exhibit at Laguna College

Laguna College of Art and Design is exhibiting original works by

students, alumni and faculty called “Bella Italia.” The exhibit

represents travels to Italy.

The free exhibit will run through Nov. 14 at the college, 2222

New works on display at Whitney Gallery

Whitney Gallery will present its Fall Show 2004, with an opening

reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 6. The community is invited to view

new works and meet featured artist Marc Whitney.

Gallimaufry opens ‘March

Gallimaufry Performing Arts will perform the comic operetta “March

of the Falsettos” at the Forum Theatre on the Festival of Arts

grounds Nov. 11, 12, 13, 14 and Nov. 18, 19, 20 and 21.

This production will mark the creation of Gallimaufry’s new

“Promiscuous Assemblage” repertory company.

Performances are at 8 p.m. with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays

at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 and $18 for seniors and students. Tickets

Miranda Galleries to hold Royo exhibit

Miranda Galleries is featuring a Royo exhibit from a private show

in Geneva, Switzerland entitled “Harem” with an opening reception

from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. This body of work includes 20 new

originals.
