“I feel great. We worked really hard. It finally paid off.”
-- Katrina Foley, Costa Mesa Planning Commissioner, who was the
top vote getter in last week’s City Council election.
“I have always been accessible to people. I read staff reports. I
take input from the community, listen to other City Council members’
concerns. I am excited to work with the other four City Council
members.”
-- Linda Dixon, former Costa Mesa mayor, who won a seat back on
the council last week.
“We really worked hard to do this. It was an uphill battle to do
this, because many of the major institutions in the city endorsed
others. I feel like it was worth the effort, and I can’t wait to get
to work.”
-- Eric Bever, Costa Mesa Planning Commissioner, who won the third
seat available on the Costa Mesa council.
“I’d rather be in third place. I’m not surprised.... I never got a
mailer out to the absentee voters. I know how to run a campaign, but
I don’t have the resources to run a campaign.”
-- Chris Steel, Costa Mesa City Councilman, who placed sixth in
the race and lost his seat, as did incumbent Mike Scheafer.
“It surely wasn’t a beauty contest; otherwise, I would have lost.
People are saying, ‘You did something right.’ I look forward to the
next four years and making a difference.”
-- Steve Rosansky, Newport Beach City Councilman, who won his race
for a full term on the council last week.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to thank residents for having
confidence [in me] and doing it for another four years. I started in
the campaign knowing I had a budget that was limited and knowing I
didn’t want [my] house disrupted by the campaign, with my wife
teaching and my son in high school.”
-- John Heffernan, Newport Beach City Councilman, who won
reelection last week.
