Lights go out Sunday night in Costa Mesa
A power outage briefly cut off power to about 2,700 customers
Sunday, a Southern California Edison spokesman said.
The outage was reported at about 7:37 p.m. and was caused by an
unknown underground problem, spokesman Tom Boyd said Sunday evening.
An hour after the outage, workers were still figuring out what
happened, but a cable or equipment failure appeared to be the cause,
he said.
The outage darkened light poles and stores along Harbor Boulevard,
but most customers had power back about 10 minutes after their lights
went out, Boyd said. About an hour after the outage, 26 customers
still had no power.
The boundaries of the power outage were the San Diego Freeway,
Fairview Road, Mesa Verde Drive and Andros Street.
There were no public-safety problems posed by the power outage,
Costa Mesa Police said.
