Huff’s brings it on home

Huff’s Restaurant, at the corner of Goldenwest Street and Edinger

Avenue, offers an array of home-style American cuisine with large

portions at generous prices.

Coupons are easily found for this eatery, formerly known as

Sunny’s, by looking in various newspapers, including coupons for

two-for-one breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

What I enjoy most about this restaurant, other than the food, is

the friendly service and the clean and home-like atmosphere. Many

meals on the dinner menu come with soup and salad, a small dessert

and a small loaf of fresh hot bread with soft, creamy butter. The

home cooking is distinct and always of superb quality.

During a recent visit with my husband, I ordered the turkey

dinner. The all-white-meat turkey portion was huge and was

accompanied by chilled cranberry sauce, scrumptious stuffing, fresh

corn, carrots and freshly made mashed potatoes -- on which was poured

a delicate, yet flavorful gravy. The salad was crisp and clean, and

the dressing was tasty and delightful.

The soups are a highlight for me: always perfect, always hot and

always with tender, melt-in-your-mouth ingredients. There are an

array of daily soups, but my favorite is the everyday vegetable beef

soup, which reminds me so much of my mother’s cooking.

Included with the meal, lest I forget, is a small portion of

pudding -- sometimes banana (with a slice of banana included),

sometimes chocolate and sometimes rice, which is added to every plate

for a perfect finale.

The breakfasts are just as filling and delicious, as are the

sandwiches and hamburgers.

I always leave with to-go boxes, filled to the brim, so I can

enjoy them at home for a couple of additional meals. I have found no

greater value for your dollar than at Huff’s.
