WHAT: The Newport-Mesa, Irvine Interfaith Council’s Hearts & Hands

Community Service Day.

WHEN: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE: 801 Dover Drive.

INFORMATION: All families, faiths, groups and individuals are

invited to perform “hands-on” service projects to benefit U.S.

troops, the homeless and local service organizations. Lunch will be

offered for $4.

WHAT: The Orange Coast College Symphony Orchestra will perform

works by Edvard Grieg and Gustav Mahler.

WHEN: 8 p.m.

WHERE: the Robert B. Moore Theater, Orange Coast College, 2701

WHAT: Fashion Island tree-lighting ceremony.

WHEN: 6 p.m.

WHERE: Fashion Island, Coast Highway and Newport Center Drive.

INFORMATION: A 115-foot white fir will light up with 17,000

lights.

Horowitz and directed by Orange Coast College students.

WHEN: Shows will begin at 2 and 7 p.m.

WHERE: Performances will be at the Drama Lab Studio, Orange Coast

College, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa.
