Don’t panic, it’s just a dollar

How much is a ride on the Magic Spinning Coaster worth? How about Le

Grande Ferris Wheel? Hydro Slide? Zero Gravity? Tango Dance? Hi

Miler?

We’re not making these names up, by the way. All were among the

exciting, thrill-producing, queasiness-inducing rides at the 2004

Orange County Fair. The question now is: Is another afternoon of

being thrown about the dusty fairgrounds worth a dollar more than you

paid last year?

That, for those who missed the news, is how much the entrance

price at the 2005 fair is going up. But where else is a dollar going

to go so far? It can’t get you a cup of coffee many places. It might

get you 10 miles in your car. But at the Orange County Fair it will

get you access to all the rides, the midway, the cornucopia of food

stuffs, the pig races, the golden weddings and everything else that

alights here for more than a month each summer.

All for just a dollar more than last year. You can’t beat that.
