Menorah-lighting ceremony upcoming

Fashion Island’s annual menorah-lighting ceremony will be at 5:30

p.m. Dec. 7 at the Bloomingdales courtyard, at Newport Center Drive

and Coast Highway.

The event will be hosted by Rabbi Reuven Mintz of the Chabad

Jewish Center of Newport Beach.

Volunteer board

being organized

The Costa Mesa City Council is in need of interested volunteers

from the community to serve on the Access, Building, Housing and Fire

Code Board of Appeals.

The board meets only when a decision is needed or when

determinations are made by the fire marshal or building officials

about the interpretation or application of the codes.

The board’s structure has recently been revised by the City

Council and will be comprised of five regular members and two

alternates. As required by state law, two of the regular members must

be physically handicapped and two must have construction experience.

Applicants must complete a “Committee Interest Form,” available at

the city clerk’s office or at the city’s website,

https://www.ci.costa-mesa.ca.us, and mail it to the Costa Mesa City

Council by Dec. 16.

The form should be mailed to Costa Mesa City Council, PO Box 1200,

Costa Mesa, CA 92628, or hand-delivered to the city manager’s office

at City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa. Appointments will be made in

January by the City Council.
