San Bernardino Valley invades Orange Coast

The Orange Coast College women’s volleyball team is the No. 8 seed

and will play host to No. 9-seeded San Bernardino Valley, tonight at

7 in the first round of the Southern California regional playoffs.

OCC (14-5) tied for second in the Orange Empire Conference while

San Bernardino Valley (13-1) went 12-0 in the Foothill Conference.

Two-time all-state performer Melissa Zapiain, OCC’s career kills

leader with 630, will lead the Pirates, who also feature sophomore

outside hitter Donka Drozd.

Tonight’s winner will meet either top-seeded El Camino or No. 16

Cypress, Saturday at 7 p.m.

OCC reached the regional final before losing to Irvine Valley, the

eventual state runner-up, in five games last fall.
