Lagunatunes Community Chorus to perform parody

Lagunatunes Community Chorus will perform a parody “Season’s

Gratings: Those Dreaded Holiday Letters,” and traditional holiday

classics, as part of its Christmas Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Written by comedian Lisa Koch the spoof features Lola Gillebaard,

Steve Josephson, Margo Upham and Christian Mariner.

Lagunatunes will also perform contemporary songs, featuring the

chorus to soloists. Admission is free to the Artists’ Theatre

Laguna Canyon Artists

open studios

Laguna Canyon Artists’ will have its annual Holiday Open Studios

event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. More than 30

artists’ participate. It’s a chance to converse with the artists, see

their studios and works in progress. A range of art media is

available for purchase.

It’s the last chance to see world artist Fitz Maurice before she

relocates to New Mexico. Maurice will participate both days and will

have a farewell party from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at her studio.

No Square Theatre presents ‘Beehive’ this weekend

No Square Theatre will open its season with the ‘60s musical

sensation “Beehive” at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday at the

Forum Theatre.

The “Beehive” cast of 10 illustrates life growing up in the ‘60s,

the issues and events and the popular music that affected their

generation.

Sawdust Winter Fantasy continues on

The 14th annual Sawdust Winter Fantasy features 173 artists

working in diverse media with works for sale. Entertainment, food and

beverages activities and art classes for children and adults are

available for free with paid admission.

Sawdust Winter Fantasy, 935 Laguna Canyon Road, will be from 10

a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Dec. 11 and 12. One time adult

admission is $4.50 or $5.50 for unlimited access. Entry is $2 for

Gallimaufry fundraiser

will aid youth theater

Gallimaufry Performing Arts will host a benefit for its youth

theater program Generation GAP from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at a private

residence.

Generation GAP was formed to provide local youth the opportunity

to learn all aspects of theater, including producing, directing,

performing, designing, managing, fundraising and management.

Gallery open to include

concert, exhibit

Laguna Beach Live! and Laguna College of Art and Design will

feature the “First Sundays” concert and exhibit with the gallery

opening at 2 p.m. and a concert from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Flutist

Susan Fries and guitarist Eric Brenton will perform Vivaldi and other

classics.

“The Art and Entertainment of Chuck Jones” exhibit will feature

many of his lesser-known works in oils, watercolors, charcoal

Laguna Plein Air Painters Assn. will hold a juried exhibit and

Playhouse Youth Theatre to open holiday musical

The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre will perform the world premiere

of the musical “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus,” Dec. 10,

11,12, 17, 18 and 19. The musical is based on the book by “The Wizard

of Oz” creator L. Frank Baum. “The Life and Adventures of Santa

Claus,” is about how Santa discovered his true calling.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, 2 and 7:30 p.m.

Saturdays and 1 and 5 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $19 for adults 14 and

older and $16 for children ages 5 to 13. Children under 5 are not

Marine Mammal Center holiday fundraiser Dec. 10

Pacific Marine Mammal Center will host its fifth annual Holiday

Gathering fundraiser from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 10 to benefit animal

care and education programs. The family oriented event will feature

an open house, behind the scenes tours, carnival games, marine mammal

arts and crafts, an opportunity drawing and silent auction.

Tickets are $12 for nonmembers, $10 for members and $8 for

Pageant of the Masters

tickets now on sale

Tickets to the Pageant of the Masters, which sells out every

summer, went on sale Wednesday.

This year’s pageant “On the Road -- A Crash Course in Art and

Popular Culture” will run from 8:30 p.m. July 7 through Sept. 1 with

a gala benefit performance Aug. 27. Tickets are $15 to $80 and $50 to

$300 to the gala.
