Kiwanis Club throws holiday party

The Kiwanis Club of Huntington Beach will throw an annual holiday

party for students at Oak View Elementary School -- a celebration the

students otherwise might not have.

According to Hahn, who is coordinating the program, more than 85%

of the students at Oak View Elementary recipients of state-subsidized

programs.

“Because they come from poor families, they don’t have the luxury

of having a lot of Christmas presents,” said Linda Hahn, of the

Kiwanis Club. “It’s a big deal for the kids and it’s a big deal for

us.”

The bash will be Dec. 15.

There will be four assemblies by grade level, and the students

will sing holiday music. John Lewis, “Mr. Yo-Yo Man,” is volunteering

with his son and grandson to perform Yo-Yo tricks and will entertain.

Santa Claus will also make a guest appearance and give each

student a candy cane and a holiday goodie bag filled with toys and

candy.
