Don’t miss the poinsettia sale at Orange Coast College from 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m. Friday. Each year its ornamental horticulture students grow
plants as part of their studies. Proceeds from their holiday sales go
toward future student projects. Choose from lush poinsettias in
4-inch, 6-inch and 10-inch pots as well as centerpieces and hanging
baskets. Colors include traditional red, white and Monet. Prices

At first blush, a
rare opportunity
Stop by Neiman Marcus on Wednesday for a rare chance to meet
celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff, who joins the Dior Beauty team.
Pati will be in the store from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., sharing secret
celebrity beauty tips and providing color consultations. The Dior
Beauty team provides beauty sessions teaching women how to achieve
the latest fall looks from Thursday to Saturday. Pati and the Dior
makeup artists will apply beautiful Dior products that are showcased
at Neiman Marcus. Pati’s talent has led her to create stylish looks
for A-list celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Watts,
Angelina Jolie and Diane Lane. She’s also responsible for creating

Ski in seconds
Young Seconds has opened its annual ski room for the winter
season. The selection covers ski and snowboard clothing and
accessories, ranging from children to adult sizes. Racks are full of
the best brands available, priced one-third the original cost. “Each
week we receive the best and latest styles in children’s casual to
formal clothing, new and gently worn,” co-owner Kathy Bell said. “Our
sizes range from infant through teen, including a great selection of
popular maternity wear, children’s furniture, strollers, cribs,
jewelry and accessories.” Bell suggests that customers call for

Shooting the links
Golf enthusiasts can enjoy the photographs all year in the 2005
Costa Mesa Country Club calendar. Local photographer Tom Neas
compiled photos he shot of the golf course, including six holes from
the Los Lagos course and six holes from the Mesa Linda course. Neas
has also included the 2005 PGA Tour schedule. The calendars cost $12

Sail through the parade
Consider taking a sailboat cruise during the Newport Harbor
Christmas Parade of Lights. Join Capt. Don Moseley on the decorated
Dulcinea from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 15 through Dec. 19. (It runs
until 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.) It costs $750 for six
passengers. Santa hats, snacks and hot beverages are included. The
Dulcinea can pick up guests anywhere in the harbor except the Back

Not your traditional evening
Traditional Jewelers will host an evening of diamonds and luxury
tonight when Daniel Koren of Daniel K, a renowned jewelry designer,
shows his exclusive couture diamond jewelry collection from 5 to 8
p.m. Other guest appearances include Marion Fasel and Penny Proddow,
co-authors of “With this Ring” and In Style magazine’s contributing
editors in fine jewelry and watches. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres
will be served. Guests can meet the designer and authors, and Fasel
