BINKY PATROL

Started in Laguna Beach in 1996, the organization makes and

distributes homemade blankets to children 18 and under who are born

HIV positive, drug-addicted, infected with AIDS or other chronic or

terminal illnesses, physically abused, in foster care or experiencing

BLUE BELL

FOUNDATION FOR CATS

This is a cat sanctuary devoted to taking care of cats that have

been given up for adoption and then deemed “unadoptable” for various

reasons. Cats staying at the Blue Bell Foundation stay there for

their entire lives. Information: (949) 494-1586.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB

OF LAGUNA BEACH

The club aims to inspire and enable all young people, especially

those from diverse backgrounds, to realize their full potential to be

productive, responsible, caring and upstanding citizens. At 1085

Laguna Canyon Road, the staff meets Mondays at noon. Regular hours

are 1:30 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Summer and weekend hours

are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

THE CANYON CLUB

The club holds Alcoholics Anonymous meetings on the hour from 6

a.m. to 10 p.m. daily with some Alanon meetings as well. Organizers

aim to keep the program simple and encourage participants to take the

program one day at a time. The club is at 20456 Laguna Canyon Road.

CHABAD OF LAGUNA JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER

The group provides services on the weekends and runs a pre-school

during the week in Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente. All

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS -- YOUTH SHELTER

This is a short-term program for at-risk teens. The goal of the

therapeutically-based program is to reunite teens with their

COMMUNITY ART PROJECT

This is a community-based organization attempting to acquire more

public art to display in private locations in Laguna Beach. Public

meetings take place at 5 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in

Wells Fargo Bank, 220 Ocean Ave.

CROSSCULTURAL COUNCIL

The group runs La Playa Center (ESL classes, with free child-care)

at the Boys and Girls Club and oversees the Laguna Day Worker Center

in Laguna Canyon. Council meets monthly. Information (949) 497-3936.

FRIENDS OF THE SEA LION -- MARINE MAMMAL CENTER

The center rescues and rehabilitates and releases sick and injured

seals and sea lions with the intention of releasing them back into

the ocean. Its coverage area includes all beaches from San Onofre to

Seal Beach. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at 20612

Laguna Canyon Road.

FRIENDSHIP SHELTER, INC.

The only year-round emergency shelter for homeless adults in South

Orange County, its mission is to assist homeless adults in regaining

their self-esteem and self-reliance. The shelter has a structured and

IMAGINATION CELEBRATION

OF ORANGE COUNTY

The group links artists and educators in an ongoing effort to

recognize, promote and present quality visual and performing arts

programs that inspire and challenge the imaginations of children,

teens and families throughout and beyond Orange County. Information:

LAGUNA ART MUSEUM

The independent, more than 80-year-old, museum focuses on American

art, with emphasis on the art of California. LAM promotes an

understanding of the role of California art and artists in the

development of visual arts nationally and internationally.

LAGUNA CANYON CONSERVANCY

This membership organization promotes and preserves natural

resources and open space surrounding Laguna Beach. Information

meetings spurred by public participation take place on the first

Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Tivoli Terrace from September

through May.

LAGUNA CANYON FOUNDATION

The foundation raises funds to increase awareness of South Coast

Wilderness Parks (Crystal Cove State Park, Laguna Coast Wilderness

Park, Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park and open space in the

cities of Irvine, Laguna Beach and Laguna Woods). Its mission is to

help complete parkland acquisitions, preserve, protect and enhance

LAGUNA GREENBELT, INC.

This membership organization was formed in 1968 to preserve Orange

County’s open space. Manages a volunteer program for Laguna Coast

LOCA

Laguna Outreach Community Arts conducts art workshops and

demonstrations throughout the year as part of its mission to provide

educational opportunities for artistic enrichment to the community

and the schools while promoting professional artists. Information:

LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE

Laguna Beach is possibly the smallest U.S. city boasting a

nationally acclaimed, professional, resident theater -- and the West

Coast’s oldest, founded in 1920. Today, the Playhouse offers a

year-round schedule, award-winning Youth Theatre and Theatereach, the

LAGUNA SHANTI

The group provides comfort, courage and companionship to persons

affected with HIV, AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. Its

mission is to enhance each client’s quality of life by providing a

NO SQUARE THEATRE

This group is dedicated to providing performance and theatrical

experience to local amateur performers, directors and technical staff

of all ages, with ticket prices affordable for the whole family. The
