Sawdust Winter Fantasy’s final weekend
The 14th annual Sawdust Winter Fantasy will feature 173 artists
working in diverse media with works for sale. Entertainment, food and
beverages activities and art classes for children and adults are
available for free with paid admission.
Sawdust Winter Fantasy, 935 Laguna Canyon Road, will be 10 a.m. to
6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. One time adult admission is $4.50 or
$5.50 for unlimited access. Entry is $2 for children 6 to 12 and free

Marine Mammal Center holiday fundraiser today
Pacific Marine Mammal Center will host its fifth annual Holiday
Gathering fundraiser from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today to benefit animal
care and education programs. The family-oriented event will feature
an open house, behind the scenes tours, carnival games, marine mammal
arts and crafts, an opportunity drawing and silent auction.
Tickets are $12 for nonmembers, $10 for members and $8 for
children 12 and under. The event is at Pacific Marine Mammal Center,

Holiday musical at youth theater opens today
The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre will perform the world premiere
of the musical “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus,” today
through Sunday and Dec. 17, 18 and 19. The musical is based on the
book by “The Wizard of Oz” creator L. Frank Baum. “The Life and
Adventures of Santa Claus,” is about how Santa discovered his true
calling.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, 2 and 7:30 p.m.
Saturdays and 1 and 5 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $19 for adults 14 and
older and $16 for children ages 5 to 13. Children under 5 are not

Community Concert Band holiday show Sunday
Laguna Community Concert Band will perform its holiday program
from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Laguna Beach High School’s Artists’
Theatre, 625 Park Ave.
The free concert will include traditional favorites along with
Bach’s classic “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” and “Feliz Navidad,”
“Happy Hanukkah,” and many others. The SwingSet will play jazz
holiday songs. Highlights include a solo by 12-year-old Sophia Tupy
and several pieces led by Pat Kollenda.

[seven-degrees] displays a winter wonderland
[seven-degrees] gallery is displaying its annual holiday Winter
Wonderland installation through mid January. The gallery has been
transformed into a winter scene with deep blue lights, multi-media
projections, elaborate chandeliers, ornaments and decorative lighting
fixtures.
The gallery will also feature the three dimensional work of
resident artist Willie O’Leary, who has created a series of unusual
hanging lamps and large ornaments to enhance the wonderland

Art Studios open for holiday shopping
Artists John Barber, Olivia Batchelder, Sue Callaway, Gavin Heath,
Jason and Nicole McQuaid, Sian and Troy Poeschl, Marsh Scott and
David Sullenger will open their studios from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec.
18 for holiday shopping.
Artwork includes silk clothing, accessories, blown glass, glass
jewelry, fused glass, paintings, wood and sculpture. For more

South Coast Singers bring on the winter magic
South Coast Singers will have it’s “Winter Magic” concert at 4
p.m. Saturday at the Festival of Arts’ Forum Theater, 650 Laguna
Canyon Road.
The concert will include a 60 member chorus, an orchestra and many
soloists performing a variety of contemporary, jazz, traditional and
classic holiday music.

Laguna Beach Chorale to perform concert
The Laguna Beach Chorale will present its holiday concert at 2
p.m. Dec. 19 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 428 Park Ave.
The concert will include Bach’s “Christmas Cantana,” Mozart’s
“Exusultate Jubliate” and many others.

Pageant of the Masters tickets now on sale
Tickets to the Pageant of the Masters, which sells out every
summer, went on sale Dec. 1. This year’s pageant “On the Road -- A
Crash Course in Art and Popular Culture” will run at 8:30 p.m. July 7
through Sept. 1 with a gala benefit performance Aug. 27. Tickets are

New LPAPA juried exhibit and sale set
Laguna Plein Air Painters Assn. will have a juried exhibit and
sale “Artists Indoors” through Jan. 3 at the plein air painters

“Artists Indoors” is Laguna Plein Air painters first exhibit of 65
artists’ interior work, featuring still lifes, portraits, nudes and

Film Society screening set for Thursday
The Laguna Beach Film Society will screen “Yoshino’s Barber Shop,”
a comedy from Japan, at the South Coast Cinema, 162 S. Coast Highway
at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Writer-director Naoko Ogigami attended USC Film School; this is
her first feature and it has attracted attention and won awards at
various international film festivals.
Wine and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6 p.m. with the film
following. Post-film discussion and coffee will take place
immediately after the screenings.
