Woman seriously injured after accident

A Laguna woman suffered major injury when she was thrown from her

vehicle after being rear-ended by a drunken driver at 9:30 a.m.

Sunday in the 2100 block of Laguna Canyon Road, police said.

Arezu Mohseni, 31, of Laguna Beach was driving northbound on

Laguna Canyon Road when her Chevrolet Avalanche was rear ended by a

Porsche, driven by Joseph Bahan, 21, of Newport Beach.

Police said that Bahan was driving at speeds between 65 and 80 mph

when the accident occurred.

The force of impact propelled Mohseni’s vehicle into a concrete

wall, said Sgt. Darin Lenyi of the Laguna Beach Police Department.

Bahan drove off the road, into the parking lot of the Laguna Beach

College of Art and Design, where he hit several objects before coming

to a stop, police said.

Mohseni suffered head injuries and was transported to Mission

Hospital, police said.

Bahan was hospitalized with minor injuries and released. He was

arrested for a felony DUI, driving under the influence of alcohol and

causing an injury, Lenyi said.

Camp Pendleton Marine arrested

Police arrested an 18-year-old Marine from Camp Pendleton after a

woman reported he had broken in to her home.

A woman awoke to find James Schere rummaging through her closet at

12:53 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Ramona Avenue, police said.

According to police, the woman yelled at the stranger to get out

of her house.

The man responded to the woman by saying “Do you have a boyfriend

in the Marines?”

According to police the woman said no and Schere added, “That’s

your first mistake,” and fled.

The woman phoned her sister, who police said lives nearby. The

sister came over and saw Schere on a rooftop next door, police said.

The woman, not knowing that Schere was the burglar, told Schere about

the incident, police said. Schere offered to help and he followed the

woman back to the victim’s apartment, police said.

When the victim saw Schere, she identified him as the burglar and

he fled, said police. According to police, the woman then called 911

and Schere was caught by police.

A 15 year-old girl was followed by two men in a white four-door

car, when she was walking to school at 10 a.m. Friday in the 400

block of Park Avenue, police said.

The two men repeatedly asked the girl if she would get in the car

and go and have coffee with them, police said. The girl ignored the

men and they eventually drove away, police said.

Police seek man suspected of murder

Police are looking for a man suspected in a Nov. 28 killing in

Arizona, and believe he may be in the area.

Jason Derek Brown, 35, is a graduate of Laguna Beach High School

and has previously lived in Laguna Beach. Police know that Brown made

a bank transaction in South Orange County on Dec. 3 and said it is

possible he is still in the area.

Brown is a white man, described as being 5-feet 9-inches tall and

weighing about 170 pounds. He has blond hair and green eyes. Police

are asking the public to call them if they see this man or know
