Beachgoer finds dead body

The death of a woman whose body was found on a West Newport beach

Sunday appeared to be a suicide, supervising Orange County deputy

coroner Joseph Luckey said.

Chong Wang, 54, of Cypress, was found on the beach near Prospect

Street at about 1:45 p.m. Sunday by a beachgoer, Newport Beach police

Sgt. Jeff Lu said.

Wang was reported missing Thursday by a friend who found a suicide

note, Luckey said. Wang’s car was found in Huntington Beach.

Though the case appeared to be a “clear-cut” suicide, Luckey said,

no official cause of death was released pending an autopsy.
