Huddling for prayer

Shame on you, Daily Pilot! The picture on the front page of Sunday’s

Sports section was not a “huddle,” it was a team prayer.

My son, Steve, is shown leading his Newport Harbor football

teammates in prayer, thanking the Lord for the opportunity to play

this great game. Call things as they are.

I want to join all the Sailor parents, family and fans in thanking

the football team for a terrific season. They’re Sea View League

Champions, and they made it to the CIF finals. We are very, very

proud of these young men, and they should hold their heads high,

knowing they accomplished something that few teams have ever done.

These guys are more than teammates. They’re friends; they’re

brothers. They played hurt, faced a lot of adversity and achieved

greatness, together. Thanks, guys, for sharing that greatness with

us.
