UCI visits Spartans

The UC Irvine men’s basketball team, which earned its first

nonconference victory in nearly two years Tuesday at Santa Clara,

will try to get another tonight at 7 against San Jose State.

The Anteaters (3-2) are led by junior point guard Aaron

Fitzgerald, who is averaging 17.2 points, 5.8 assists and 4.4

rebounds.

He has a team-high 12 three-pointers, including five during a

17-point performance in the 70-58 win over Santa Clara.

San Jose State (3-3) has split with two Big West Conference

opponents this season, losing to University of the Pacific, 70-52,

Nov. 20 and beating Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 69-50, Dec. 4.
