The Pacific Symphony League of Orange County is busy putting the

final touches on their upcoming January 5th luncheon being called “An

Afternoon with Jane Eaglan”. The world renowned operatic soprano will

be in Orange County performing excerpts from Wagner’s Ring in concert

with The Pacific Symphony. Funds raised will support music education

programs for children in the community.

The special event will unfold at The Clubhouse at Pelican Hill,

Newport Coast, and will begin with a reception followed by luncheon

and then a special program that will feature a conversation with Jane

Eaglan conducted by Rodney Gilfry. Eaglan has emerged as one of the

most distinguished performers of Wagner’s material, receiving stellar

notices from around the world for her portrayals of the heroines of

Wagner’s musical dramas. She has starred with the Metropolitan Opera

of New York as well as the San Francisco Opera on the West Coast. For

The Make A Wish Foundation of Orange County joined with the

foundation in the Inland Empire to host a very special day this week

at the Arrowhead Pond. Children suffering from life threatening

illnesses were hosted to a special program of Disney/Pixar’s Monsters

Inc.. As the doors to the Pond opened for the children, Disney On Ice

skaters joined the kids for a painting session followed by

refreshment and a meet-and-greet session with stars of the show.

Major Curt Pringle of Anaheim was on hand for the special event.

January is jazz month on the Orange Coast. The ladies of Camelot

will host an evening at The Balboa Bay Club & Resort on January 12

benefiting The Orange County Performing Arts Center. The Gary

Matsurra Jazz Band will be joined by pianist Ron Kobayashi and Center

president Jerry Mandel on the saxophone for a cabaret performance at

Duke’s Place that will benefit the Camelot Chapter of The Guilds. The

ladies of Camelot are one of the long established, strongest and most

generous chapters of the Guilds. Led this season by Janie Kingsley of

Lido Isle serving as president, other long time Camelot supporters

include Rita Snyder, Carol Mason, Stephanie Barton, Joan Williams,

Reta Hawkins, Nora Johnson and Gini Robins. The cabaret show suggests

The Ocean Institute’s Jazz in January will star Grammy winning

saxophonist Eric Marienthal. Set for January 29th at the Ocean

Institute in Dana Point, the fundraiser will be chaired by Tim Mc

Mahon with support from a committee including Sue Davidson, Dennis

Gabrick, Lisa Metz, Mike Metz, Sean Sweeney and Barbara Merriman. The

event will feature Marienthal’s performance of his newest release

entitled “Sweet Talk” that he co-wrote with his 14-year old son

Robert. Tickets for Jazz in January are available at $250 per person

with special packages available that include a stay at the St. Regis

Monarch Beach Resort and Spa. Proceeds from Jazz in January will

support The Ocean Institute, a non-profit maritime studies facility.

Newport’s Lana Chandler is working with Becky Lomaka, program

director of South County Senior Services to produce “A Night At The

Copacabana”. The annual fundraiser for the senior services

organization is set for Feb. 12th at The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Laguna

Niguel. A massive silent auction will begin the evening followed by

dinner and dancing to The Bob Gail Orchestra. Senior Services

provides Meals on Wheels, adult day care, transportation and much

more helping seniors and their families maintain independence and
