Freshman Annie Mai had a career-high 16 points, while Lauren Yadon

Opener postponed

* RUGBY: Saturday’s sunny skies contributed to warmer

temperatures, but the Back Bay Rugby Football Club’s adult team still

felt the effects of the recent rains.

The Sharks were supposed to open the season against Belmont Shore

at 1 p.m. at Peninsula Park near the Balboa Pier, but that game will

have to wait another week after city of Newport Beach officials

deemed the field off limits.

City officials were concerned about us tearing up the field and

wanted to let it dry out a bit more, said club president Dave Fleck.

The game is tentatively rescheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.
