Local tech firm bought by Irvine company

Costa Mesa technology firm Com Services was recently bought by

Irvine-based Network Installation Corp.

The purchase was announced Friday by Network Installation.

According to the announcement, Com Services will become a subsidiary

of the Irvine firm. Network Installation bought Com Services for

$430,000 in cash and stock.

In a statement, Network Installation chairman Michael Novelli said

the purchase of Com Services, a union certified company, will allow

his company to bid for union contracts.

Pacific Life puts a

new man on board

Newport Beach insurance company Pacific Life announced that David

E. I. Pyott had been elected to the company’s board of directors.

Pyott will work on the board of the firm’s parent company, Pacific

Mutual Holding Co. and Pacific LifeCorp, the firm’s parent stock

company. Pyott is chairman, president and chief executive of

Irvine-based pharmaceutical firm Allergan, Inc. He is also a board

member with Avery Dennison Corp., Edwards Lifesciences Corp., the

California Healthcare Institute and the UC Irvine Graduate School of

Management.

Investment company finds its managing man

The Pacific Investment Management Company, based in Newport Beach,

announced Friday that Changhong Zhu had been promoted to managing

director. Zhu was hired by the firm in 1999 and was the primary

portfolio manager for multiple accounts. He holds a bachelor’s degree

in physics from China’s University of Science and Technology and a

doctorate in physics from the University of Chicago.
