First Thursdays readies anniversary

The city’s monthly art festival, First Thursdays Art Walk, will

celebrate its seventh year next week.

On the first Thursday of every month, more than 37 galleries and

the Laguna Art Museum participates in the open showing. Galleries

throughout Laguna Beach open their doors to the public with new

exhibits, artist receptions, demonstrations and lectures.

The Art Walk is from 6 to 9 p.m. with free shuttles starting at

First Sundays at Laguna College

Laguna College and Laguna Beach Live! will continue the tradition

of a free art exhibit and classical music concert from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Feb. 6.

Sierra Horn Quartet featuring four French horns will perform. The

“Speculative Terrain” exhibit, a show of contemporary Southern

California landscape imagery, is open to the public.

Festival’s application deadline Feb. 28

Artists who want to exhibit in this summer’s Festival of Arts are

invited to submit slides of their best work and complete an

LOCA Art Escapes workshops end today

Laguna Outreach Community Arts Art Escapes program is offering the

last of a three-part watercolor workshop at 2 p.m. The workshop

started Jan. 14 and continued Jan. 21 and today. It featured

nationally known artist, exhibitor and teacher Roger Folk.

The class at the Women’s Club, 286 St. Anne’s Drive, is suitable

for all artistic levels and costs $30. Class size is limited. For

‘Catechism’ extended through March 14

As a result of continued popular demand, the Laguna Playhouse, 606

Laguna Canyon Road, will extend its run of “Late Nite Catechism”

through March 14. It will be the 12th extension.

The two-act solo performance features “Sister” giving instruction

to a roomful of “students” (the audience.) For information, call
