KOCE-TV initiative to take wing Feb. 4

Public broadcasting station KOCE-TV’s Butterfly Initiative is set

to kick off on Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at Roger’s Gardens, 2301 San Joaquin

Hills Road, Corona del Mar.

The initiative attempts to unite communities through projects that

have a positive and lasting affect on the future of Orange County.

The first project is the launch of an endowment to fund arts and

sciences education in the county.

In support of that goal, more than 50 of the area’s finest artists

have created a collection of butterfly sculptures that will be

auctioned in the Butterfly Initiative’s first fundraiser to support

the arts and sciences endowment to fund for the county.

The auction will be March 4, but Orange County cities have been

working on their creations -- sculptures made by people from every

age group in the area -- and they will be on display at Roger’s

Gardens throughout February.

The city with the most outstanding butterfly sculpture will be

announced at the fundraiser auction on March 4.
