Eagle seems to enjoy Orange Coast

A bald eagle said to be from a Catalina Island breeding program has

been spotted recently in several areas along the Orange Coast, from

Newport Beach to Huntington Beach.

Jasmene Jarrett of Costa Mesa snapped this photo Friday of the

predatory bird perched in a eucalyptus tree at Irvine and Santa

Isabel avenues, near the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Preserve.

If it is the same bird, it is tagged “K13” and is a young male

without a mate, estimated to weigh between 8 and 9 pounds. And if

we’re lucky, he could be here to stay, experts say.

feathered neighbor can send them to the Daily Pilot, 1375 Sunflower
