The Estancia High girls basketball team lost to host Ocean View 54-31

Monday in a Golden West League showdown.

Coach Ernie Wright said the only positive from the game for the

Eagles was the fact the team made 4 of 6 free throws.

Be Deip had 13 points to lead Estancia (5-16, 2-6 in league).

D.J. Butler scored a game-high 16 for the Seahawks (11-11, 5-4).

Seahawks handle Mesa

* BASKETBALL: The Costa Mesa High girls basketball team made 5 of

23 shots in the first half en route to a 52-21 Golden West League

loss to visiting Saddleback Monday.

Cynthia Late scored a game-high 22 points for the Roadrunners

(17-6, 8-1 in league).

Junior Judie Akansel scored nine points and had three steals to

lead the Mustangs (8-15, 4-5).

Mesa’s last home game of the regular season is Wednesday at 7 p.m

against Ocean View.

Coach Jim Weeks said Mesa should have an easy time getting into

the CIF Southern Section Division II-AA playoffs if the team beats

the Seahawks.
