See Bill run
We have a hard time imagining keeping pace with Bill Sumner.
The longtime Corona del Mar High School track and cross-county
coach has been churning out winners for more than two decades and
doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
It’s just the opposite. He’s added to his pace, working with the
Orange County Marathon, which had a successful first lap last fall.
He’s got about 2,300 members in his Cal Coast Track Club of Southern
California.
Plus he’s still running about 50 races a year.
It makes us tired just to think about it all.
But Sumner’s tireless work ethic, his support and mentoring for
our youth and most recently his work with the marathon, which raised
$380,000 for children’s charities, are all worth racing after.
Sumner’s a model for how we all could conduct our lives.
And, luckily for us all, he isn’t unique here in Newport-Mesa.
