OCC women make regionals

The Orange Coast College women’s basketball team earned the No. 15

seed in the Southern California regional playoffs and will open

Wednesday against No. 18 Moorpark in a play-in game at OCC. Game time

will be determined.

The OCC men’s volleyball team is scheduled to play at 6 p.m. at

home, forcing some adjustment.

Coach Mike Thornton’s Pirates (17-2) finished fourth in the Orange

Empire Conference.

Wednesday’s winner will visit No. 2 Riverside, the Orange Empire

Conference champion, Saturday at 7 p.m.

The OCC men (15-12, 6-8) did not receive a postseason bid.

Anteaters victorious

* SAILING: The UC Irvine sailing team won the Charleston spring

intersectional, hosted by the College of Charleston this past weekend

in South Carolina.

UCI topped the 18-team field with 41 points. Charleston was second

with 57 and Yale was third with 72.

The Anteaters’ Frank Tybor and William Pochereva won the A

Division with 15 points, while Mike Brown and Whitney Loufek won the

B Division with 26. Each division had six races.
