The UC Irvine men’s basketball team defeated host Idaho, 67-62, in

Big West Conference action Thursday.

With the win, UCI (13-11, 6-9 in the Big West) moves into a tie

for fifth place with UC Santa Barbara, a half game ahead of

seventh-place Idaho (8-19, 6-10).

“Any road win is a great win, but especially at this time of the

year as we were able to move up the standings a bit,” UCI Coach Pat

Douglass said.

Greg Ethington and Jeff Gloger each scored five points in overtime

to help the Anteaters to the win. Gloger put UCI up for good, 63-62,

with less than three minutes remaining.

nine-minute stretch. Shepard hit two free throws with 24 seconds

remaining in regulation to tie it, 54-54, and Schraeder missed a

three-pointer at the buzzer, sending it to overtime.

UCI used a balanced scoring attack lead by Ethington’s 16 points.

Gloger added 13, Nic Campbell had 11 and Ross Schraeder recorded 10

points. Freshman Andrew Brucker scored eight points and four rebounds

in 12 minutes of action in the first half. He ended the game with
