After falling behind, 1-0, after doubles play, the visiting San Diego

State women’s tennis team claimed four out of six singles sets to

halt UC Irvine’s winning streak at three and claim a 4-3

nonconference victory Saturday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

Inna Agababian gave UCI (4-4) a 3-2 lead with her 6-3, 6-4 victory

over Indra Erichsen at No. 3 singles after UCI’s Anna Bentzer downed

Dita Hauerlandova, 6-0, 7-5, to make it 2-2.

But the Aztecs (4-3) won the next two singles matches to seal the

victory. Andrea Hermansen defeated UCI’s Hui Leow, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2,

while SDSU’s Eliska Krausova downed Jessica Broadfoot, 7-5, 6-3.

The Anteaters won two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0

lead.

Jayme Hu and Lisa Shih defeated Nina Spaeth and Sisse Nielsen,

8-5, in the No. 3 match while Leow and Becky Bernhard bested

Hauerlandova and Alesya Vidov, 8-6, in the No. 2 match.

The ‘Eaters will host Big West Conference rival Cal Poly San Luis

Obispo at 11 a.m. today.
