Volunteers needed at refuge

The Marine Life Refuge Project is seeking volunteers to monitor the

protection of marine animals on various days in March. The program

relies on volunteers to protect sea stars, hermit crabs, sea urchins

and other marine life. The Refuge Project is dedicated to the

protection, preservation and education of marine life found in Orange

County tide-pool areas. Volunteers are being recruited in Laguna

Beach at Crystal Cove State Park. They will receive training. Anyone

Lagunatics to host

senior prom

Lagunatics will host a senior prom, to benefit the new senior

center, on July 29, 30 and 31 at the Laguna Beach High School

Artists’ Theatre. The performances will kickoff the fundraising

effort for the Laguna Beach seniors’ capital campaign to build the

new senior center on Third Street.

Those attending will have the opportunity to be the queen and king

of the prom for a $10,000 donation on Saturday and a $5,000 donation

at the other performances. Tickets will go on sale July 1. For more

Exchange club

honors Stefano

The Laguna Beach Exchange Club has chosen to honor Laguna Beach

firefighter Dan Stefano and reserve firefighter Tim Jones with the

2005 Laguna Beach Firefighter of the Year Awards. Stefano and Jones

will be honored at the annual Exchange Club luncheon at noon March 17

at the Hotel Laguna, 425 South Coast Highway. Anyone wishing to join

in celebrating the dedication and bravery demonstrated by these two

firefighters is invited. The cost of lunch is $22. Information: (949)

Golden reopening

March 11

The Golden Spoon Yogurt Shop will hold a grand reopening and

ribbon cutting from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. March 11 and 12 at the Golden Spoon, 272 Broadway. Everyone will receive a free small yogurt.
