Two drivers killed

in collision on 405

A 29-year-old Costa Mesa man driving his car the wrong way on the

San Diego (405) Freeway collided head on with another car early

Saturday morning, killing both drivers, the California Highway Patrol

reported.

The incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. near Bellflower

Boulevard. The Costa Mesa man was driving south in the northbound

lanes in his 2000 Dodge Stratus. The other vehicle, a 2002 Jeep

Wrangler driven by a 37-year-old Torrance man, was heading northbound

when the collision occurred.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and died at the scene,

according to investigators.
