The showing of movies must go on
The Daily Pilot went to went to Metro Pointe and asked: How do you
feel about movies being used as a teaching tool in the classroom?
“I think it’s a good idea because I paid more attention to the
movies than the teachers’ lectures.... It keeps kids more interested
and in tune.”
Desiree Sandoval, 19
Santa Ana
“I think movies are a really powerful way to get the point
across.... It definitely puts things in perspective for students.”
Randy Diamond, 19
Irvine
“It depends on the movie and what they show. For me, if it’s rated
because of sexual content and language, it shouldn’t be shown. I
would prefer if children read a book than watch a film.”
Debbie Shenfield, 51
Fountain Valley
“I think it can help; it depends on how they use them.”
Melody Little, 20
Fountain Valley
“Historically in general, there’s a lot of films based on
historical events -- especially in the last 20 years. I think it’s
valuable.... I think they can definitely be useful in class.”
