Boy band singer arrested Downtown

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter was arrested on the suspicion of

drunken driving at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Downtown Huntington Beach,

police said.

Carter, 25, of Beverly Hills, was pulled over at 3rd and Olive

streets after police saw his vehicle driving erratically, said Sgt.

Mike Kelly, of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Carter was given a sobriety test and taken into the Huntington

Beach Jail, Kelly said. Police are not releasing information about

Carter’s blood-alcohol level.

Police said that Carter was cooperative and was released from jail

after 4 1/2 hours. The district attorney’s office will review the

case and decide whether or not charges will be filed, police said.

Woman killed while skydiving

A Huntington Beach woman was killed while skydiving when her

parachute failed to open on Saturday, said police.

Susan Spray, 33, was skydiving in Perris, in Riverside County,

when the accident occurred at 1:15 p.m., according to the Riverside

County Sheriff’s Department.
