The Corona del Mar High boys tennis team improved to 5-0 with a 16-2

nonleague triumph over host Sage Hill in a battle of ranked teams

Thursday at the Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club.

CdM senior Spencer Reitz swept all 18 games at No. 1 singles to

help the Sea Kings, ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division I,

handle the Lightning (3-5), ranked No. 4 in CIF Division V.

Senior Matt Chou also swept in singles for the Sea Kings. CdM

Coach Tim Mang said it was the first singles match this season for

Chou.

The CdM doubles tandems of senior Alex Nguyen and senior Sean

Pham, as well as Robert Koury and Jonathan Kroopf, both juniors, also

swept their three sets.

Sage Hill’s lone victories were produced by senior No. 1 singles

player Tristan Cordier, a senior, and the No. 1 doubles pairing of

juniors Michael Garrison and Conrad Whitaker.

The Lightning are scheduled to return to action today at 3 p.m.

against visiting Laguna Beach.

CdM is scheduled to meet Back Bay rival Newport Harbor today at 3

in a nonleague confrontation on the Sailors’ courts.

The Sea Kings play host to their annual national invitational,

featuring seven teams from outside California, March 25-26.
