p.m. Free shuttle service commences from the Laguna Art Museum at

6:15 and runs until 9 p.m. Information: https://www.firstthursdays

artwalk.com or (949) 683-6871. The next First Thursday Art Walk is 6

Thursday Art Walk.]

*Laguna Art Museum

Laguna Art Museum will be exhibiting “Richard Pettibone: A

Retrospective,” through May 28; “Laguna’s Hidden Treasures: Art from

Private Collections,” through July 10; “Paul Paiement Hybrids 1.0 --

3.5,” through July 3; and “Surf Culture Redux” through Oct. 5.

“Paul Paiement: Hybrids 1.0 - 3.5,” is a five-year survey of the

Los Angeles-based painter. Hybrids are an ongoing series of water

color and egg tempera paintings based on psychological theories of

visual perception, with the artist acting as a painter, scientist,

and entomologist.

Lecture: Artist Paul Paiement will lecture on his work over the

past five years, including a book signing of his catalog at 1 p.m.

Sunday. Lectures are free with paid admission.

“Richard Pettibone: A Retrospective,” is the first retrospective

of Pettibone’s work in more than 20 years. The exhibit will present a

range from his early assemblages and small-scale “replicas” that

first brought him critical attention in the ‘50s and ‘60s, to his

sculptural work and his most recent complexly layered work.

“Laguna’s Hidden Treasures: Art from Private Collections” will

focus on collectors and their art collections in Laguna Beach and the

vicinity. Works range from the early 20th Century to the early 21st

Century. Profiles of the collectors, their collections, and the

selected artwork will accompany the selections.

“Surf Culture Redux” is a re-configuration of the iconic works

from the Museum’s most well-attended show in its history, “Surf

Culture -- The Art History of Surfing.” Past, present, and future

links between surfing and art are explored through works of art by

surfers and artists influenced by surfing.
