This year, the Lucile Miller Wright Scholarship Program awarded

$50,000 in scholarship money to five members of Girls Inc. of Orange

County: Costa Mesa High School seniors Adeline Guyenne and Patty

Luna, Estancia High School senior Alejandra Cerros, Valencia High

School junior Erika Santana, and Tustin High School junior Levedin

Castaneda.

You can meet the honorees at a reception Tuesday at the Girls Inc.

The Big Canyon Reservoir Cover Project Dedication will begin at

8:30 a.m. Wednesday, with Rep. Chris Cox being honored for his

support of the project.

LEND YOUR TWO CENTS TO SIGN CODE

If you have ideas about what signs the city of Newport Beach

should allow, give city officials a piece of your mind at two public

workshops Thursday.

Proposed revisions to the sign code will address murals, vehicle

signs and other types of signs.

Meetings are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the

Newport Beach Central Library, 3300 Newport Blvd. The City Council is

expected to discuss the sign code in April. For information, call

TAKING ON VIOLENCE

“Bang, Bang You’re Dead,” a play about school violence by Corona

del Mar High School students will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at

the Corona del Mar Little Theater, 2101 Eastbluff Dr., Newport Beach.

Corona del Mar High School student Arkady Bannigan is directing

the show as a senior project.

Tickets cost $5, and all proceeds go to Corona del Mar’s Tolerance
