University Tuesday, 10-4, and at Northwood, 15-1, on Friday.

Against University, Noah Brewster had two hits, and Calvin Mead,

Laguna got off to a great start as it batted through its order in

Laguna scored its final run in the seventh inning when Anthony

Schuller scored on Rauch’s fielder’s-choice grounder.

In the loss to Northwood, Jeff Bolar doubled and Jonathan Begay

singled for the Breakers.

Laguna dropped to 6-6 overall and 2-4 in league play.

In volleyball action, the Laguna Beach High boys’ team remained

perfect in Pacific Coast League play by sweeping past Tesoro and

Northwood in recent outings.

The Breakers won both matches at Dugger Gymnasium, defeating

Tesoro Friday, 25-20, 25-19, 25-22, then took care of Northwood

Tuesday, 25-21, 25-23, 25-14.

The two wins puts third-ranked Laguna at 3-0 in league play and

12-7 overall.

Against Tesoro, ranked seventh in Division II, Luke Morris had 19

kills and nine digs, Andrew Chapel finished with 13 kills and five

digs, Ivan Kovacevic had seven kills, Chriss Hoffman had six kills

In softball action, Laguna fell Tuesday to host University, 10-0.

Laguna, which had dropped a 25-2 game earlier in the season to

University, played the Trojans tough through the first three innings

but still trailed, 3-0.

Highlights for Laguna came on what coach Skip Andrews called a

“tremendous effort” by Anne Olson on a bunt to third base and a

“fantastic” unassisted double play by freshman Shannon Sweeney.

Mary Trout, Caitlin Barretto and Alivia LeVeque each picked up

hits for the Breakers.

“I’m proud of everyone,” Laguna junior pitcher Lauren Delgado said

after the game.

In its previous outing, Laguna was no-hit by visiting Northwood in

a 24-0 loss.
