‘HOLIDAY’

A comedy written by Phillip Barry in the 1930s that has been

called one of the outstanding successes of the New York theater. It

is the story of a young man, planning to wed a girl of great wealth

and social standing, who expresses his preference to live life as a

holiday, much to her father’s chagrin and her sister’s fascination.

The production will be directed by Jack Millis and performed at the

Newport Theatre Arts Center, 2501 Cliff Dr., Newport Beach. Tickets

Kamae and the Sons of Hawai’i. For 20 years, Kamae and his legendary

band The Sons of Hawai’I played a leading role in the Hawaiian

cultural renaissance. This year he started sitting in with four

featured performers who share his spirit and musicianship: Mike

Ka’awa, Ocean Kaowili, Analu Aina and Braddah Smitty. The concert

The Emmy and Tony award-winner Bebe Neuwirth will perform songs by

Kurt Weill and the musical theater team of John Kander and Fred Ebb.

Most know Neuwirth as Frasier Crane’s uptight ex-wife, Lilith

Sternin, from the TV series “Cheers,” but the singer/dancer/actress

is also a celebrated Broadway performer. The show begins at 8 p.m. in

‘BREATH OF SPRING’

Ah, the British have a way with farces! When a maid with a shady

past is suspected of stealing a mink sole, a former Army major and

several other lodgers of a boarding house endeavor to return the fur

without being caught. They take such delight in the secretive scheme

that they form a syndicate for stealing and returning furs, all for

the excitement of the adventure. Written by Peter Coke and directed

by Terri Miller Schmidt, the play will be performed at 8 p.m.
