Newport Harbor High seniors Trevor Theriot, Kasey Peters and Alex
Orth, as well as Corona del Mar’s Kevin Welch, have been named to the
South roster for the Orange County All-Star football game, scheduled

VI Co-Player of the Year and Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Player of the
Year after rushing for 1,328 yards on 222 carries in his third
varsity season. A finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman,
Theriot plans to walk on at UCLA.
Peters, a 6-2, 207-pound quarterback who was the Newport-Mesa
Offensive Player of the Year, passed for 2,140 yards and 23 touchdowns last fall. He completed 156 of 274 pass attempts (57%).
Welch, a 6-2, 200-pound receiver, had 39 catches for 735 yards and
nine TDs last fall.
The 6-2, 190-pound Orth, selected as a defensive back, was a
two-way standout for the Sailors. He caught 45 passes for 652 yards
and a team-leading 11 TDs, including 20 catches and six TDs in the
playoffs.
The 36-member South squad will be coached by Jim O’Connell from
Tesoro High.
The game, run by the Brea Lions Club, gives proceeds to several
