There are numerous city-sponsored events to celebrate Heritage Month

in Laguna Beach.

* Thursday, 6-9 p.m. Join the Heritage Committee to celebrate the

unique history of Laguna Beach at Madison Square & Garden Cafe, 320

N. Coast Highway, an exemplary case of how an older structure can be

renovated to retain the original flavor, if not the original use.

Mayor Elizabeth Pearson-Schneider will welcome guests. Hors

d’oeuvres will be served. Ken Garcia Band and No Square Theatre will

entertain. Admission is free.

* Downtown Guided Tour, 10 a.m.-noon, May 14. Heritage Committee

members will conduct a guided tour of historic downtown Laguna. Meet

in front of the Laguna Beach library, 363 Glenneyre St., on the

corner of Laguna Avenue.

Comfortable shoes, hats and sunscreen are advised. No charge.

* Heritage Forum, 7-8 p.m., May 16. An informal presentation of

the city’s Historical Ordinance, in the City Council chambers, 505

Forest Ave.

The Planning Commission is currently reviewing the ordinance with

input from the Heritage Committee.

Refreshments. No charge.

* Downtown Guided Tour, 10 a.m.-noon, May 21. Second chance to

learn more about historic downtown Laguna under the auspices of

Heritage Committee members. Meet in front of the Laguna Beach

library, 363 Glenneyre St., on the corner of Laguna Avenue.

Comfortable shoes, hats and sunscreen are advised. No charge.

* Self-guided Heritage Tours, May 1-31. Ride city transportation

for tours of historic North and South Laguna, using the “Heritage

Walking Companion to Self-Guided Tour Laguna by Bus.”

Brochures are available on buses or at City Hall, 505 Forest Ave.
