Motorist robbed of wallet at gunpoint
A man was robbed at gunpoint by a man who forced his way into the
victim’s car on the morning of April 25, police said.
The victim pulled his car into a parking structure at 5 a.m. in
the 7700 block of Center Avenue when an assailant stood in the way of
the vehicle, police said. The assailant opened the car door and took
a black semi-automatic handgun out of his waistband, pointing it at
the victim, said Sgt. Mike Kelly.
The man got into the victim’s car and demanded that the victim
give up his wallet. The victim drove the car to a residential area,
where the assailant then exited the car with $52 from the victim’s
wallet.
The victim drove to the Anaheim Police Department and reported the
crime, Kelly said.
The assailant was described as a Latino man, between 30 and 35
years of age, weighing approximately 140 pounds, with a goatee and
wearing a black beanie, black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and
white shoes.
Foul stench, but where’s the source?
Both police and fire units responded to an estimated 100 calls
reporting a strong gas odor in the Huntington Harbour area April 25,
police said.
The gas company was called and said they were not aware of a gas
leak in the area, Kelly said. The fire department checked the area
and did not find the source of the smell, Kelly said.
Police looking into possible hate crime
Police are investigating a possible hate crime April 23 in the
1200 block of California Street, police said.
Derogatory comments about homosexuality and references to the Ku
Klux Klan were reportedly spray painted on the wall of a home, said
Sgt. Mike Kelly. The residents did not initially report the
vandalism; police received a call from a passerby who was offended by
the spray painted message, Kelly said.
