Man arrested for sexual assault

Police made an arrest Tuesday night in the sexual assault of a

minor that occurred in November, Sgt. Darin Lenyi said..

The 27-year-old Laguna Beach man was arrested on suspicion of

having sex with a 14-year-old girl, Lenyi said. Police are also

investigating possible drug charges, Lenyi said.

The man allegedly had sex with the girl and gave her

methamphetamine at the Capri Laguna Inn in November, Lenyi said. Due

to medical complications from drug use, the victim was taken to South

Coast Medical Center and the police were called, Lenyi said.

The arrest was delayed because of DNA processing, Lenyi said. DNA

taken from the victim at the hospital matched DNA obtained from the

suspect, Lenyi said.

Fifth-grader threatens classmate

Police were called to a school in the 3000 block of South Coast

Highway Friday afternoon when a fifth-grader allegedly threatened a

classmate, police said.

During an argument, one fifth-grader told another fifth-grader

that he was going to get a gun and shoot him, said Sgt. Darin Lenyi.

School officials then called the police, Lenyi said.

After talking with both the child and his parent, police

determined that the child did not have access to a gun and the threat

could not be carried out, Lenyi said.

The child is back in school, Lenyi said.
