Police arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after he drove

his car into a bus bench full of people Sunday afternoon at Golden

West College, police said.

Six people suffered minor injuries and four of them were

hospitalized when Moreno’s silver 1995 Ford Thunderbird veered off a

driveway into the bench.

“Considering somebody could have been killed, I think we were

pretty lucky on this one,” Sgt. Mike Kellysaid.

Reyes Juaquin Moreno, 41, of Van Nuys, was charged with attempted

murder with a vehicle because police have reason to believe his

actions were intentional.

“There was evidence that he did it on purpose,” Kelly said.

Moreno did not cooperate with police and two officers suffered

minor injuries when they had to subdue him, police said. Police

suspected Moreno was under the influence of alcohol and possibly

other drugs, Kelly said.

California Highway Patrol officers informed Huntington Beach

police that Moreno’s car matched the description of a car involved in

an incident on the off-ramp of the San Diego (405) Freeway at

Goldenwest Street moments earlier.
