The team’s captain, he ended his Vanguard soccer career with his

fourth NAIA All-America honorable mention award and was listed as an

NAIA scholar-athlete for the second time. Selected the GSAC men’s

soccer player of the year at the end of the regular season, Hess,

also a four-time All-GSAC player, was then named an NAIA All-Region

II player for the fourth time before earning his final All-America

honor. He led the Lions in goals and total points this season, ending

his career with a school-record 86 goals. He was instrumental in

bringing the men’s soccer program its first GSAC championship last

fall.
