The Center for Spiritual

Discovery invites women of all ages to attend a “Goddess

Festival,” where the Goddess within every woman is celebrated in a

lavishly decorated Temple with ceremony, dance, music, poetry

readings, chanting and a beautiful participatory fire ritual on the

patio. The Goddess festival opens on Friday at 6:30 p.m. with

registration and light refreshments, followed by a Temple program

which lasts until 10 p.m., and events on Saturday will be held from

9:30 a.m. to 5: 30 p.m. The Center for Spiritual Discovery is located

The fourth annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life of

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!” a play based on the comic

strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz is a great show for the entire

family. A delightful story of a day in the life of the world’s most

adored comic-strip character and his friends. The subtle “life

lessons” of Charles Schulz’s pint-sized citizens are portrayed with

lively dialogue, music, singing and choreography. Staged by the

Newport Beach Theater Company, a California nonprofit theater for

young performers between ages seven and 21, at Vanguard University in

the Lyceum Theater, 55 Fair Dr., Costa Mesa. Show times are Fridays

“Up Amongst the Stars,” a combined effort of the Newport Beach

Public Library, Newport Beach Public Library Foundation and the

are part of the countywide “Imagination Celebration of Orange County”

“The Daniel Pearl Dialogue

for Muslim-Jewish Understanding” features the coming together, for

personal and public dialogues across the United States, Judea Pearl,

father of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl and Akbar

Ahmed, chair of Islamic studies at American University. The two hope

to break down negative stereotypes and encourage respect for our

common humanity. Rusty Kennedy, executive director of the Orange

County Human Relations Commission, will serve as moderator of the

one-on-one dialogue, sponsored by UC Irvine at 7 p.m. at the Crystal
