The Huntington Beach Independent went to Harbour View Elementary

School and asked students, “Why are school volunteers important?”

“If children have problems, then a volunteer will come out and see

what the problem is and help them out.”

SAMANTHA ABRIL, 11

“I think volunteers are important because when they come into the

classrooms and help the teachers, they can help children with their

work and stuff.”

ARIAN BARKHORDAR, 11

“I think the volunteers are important because if you’re in a hard

situation, they’ll help you. Some of them might want to be a teacher

some day and you can show them around the school.”

COREY MANDRELLA, 11

“They take time out of their day to take time to be with kids for

no pay.”

TREVOR LONG, 11

“I think volunteers are important because they help us when we’re

hurt. They also care for you and help you open things at lunch.”
