Governor to announce education initiative

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to join University of

California and California State University officials at UC Irvine

Tuesday to announce a new education initiative. According to a

spokeswoman for the UC president’s office, the initiative involves

increasing the number of math and science teachers at UC and CSU

campuses.

The event, for media only, will be at 10:30 a.m. at the UCI Bren

Events Center.

Members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal

Employees, who held a one-day strike on behalf of UC service workers

in April, have expressed plans to protest outside.

Holistic Living Expo comes to Newport

Crystals, seances and tarot card readings will come to Newport

Beach June 5 for the Holistic Living Expo.

The expo takes place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel.

Free presentations will cover feng shui, healing, magic and

mysteries, seeing auras and figuring out what your pet is thinking.

Psychics and clairvoyants will read tarot cards, palms and astrology

charts.

The Radisson Hotel is at 4545 MacArthur Blvd. in Newport Beach.
