The Eastbluff Elementary third- and fourth-grade girls soccer team

defeated Harbor View, 3-0, in the Gold Division in the second round

of the Daily Pilot Cup at Costa Mesa Farm Complex Wednesday.

Harbor View started the game with a goal within minutes of play,

but it was reversed after an offsides call.

Nikki Hezar set the tempo for Eastbluff after scoring the first

goal with an assist from Alina Schwenk-Mueller.

With seconds remaining in the first half, a foul was called on

Harbor View, giving Eastbluff’s Katie Senske a free kick, and a 2-0

lead.

In the second half, Harbor View returned to the game showing its

talent in ball control, but it wasn’t enough to stop Eastbluff’s

offense.

Senske scored a final goal, bringing the score to 3-0.

With seconds left, Harbor View attempted a goal, but a sliding

tackle by Eastbluff’s Kylie Mulvaney saved the goal, and ended the

game, 3-0.

“We played really good because we got together, passed and

attacked,” said Senske.

Eastbluff Coach Brian Mulvaney said how pleased he was with his

team’s performance, and explained how impressed he was that every

player contributed to the win.

Kylie Mulvaney, who prevented Harbor View from scoring in the last

seconds of the game, shared her thoughts on the game.

“We had a lot of passing today, and we crashed the ball.”

Eastbluff returns Thursday to play Newport Heights, while Harbor

View faces Kaiser.
