Pirates sail past Cubs

Nick Pedevilla threw a complete game and tamed the Cubs as the

Pirates picked up a 6-1 victory in majors division play at Seaview

Little League.

Pedevilla struck out seven in notching the win.

Gerald Marcucci led the Pirates on offense with two hits and two

runs scored, and Christian Anderson had an RBI single.

The Cubs got a double from Ryan Ortolf and a single from Vincent

Wetzel. Ortolf struck out five in three innings on the mound.

In other Majors Division games:

Red Sox 7, Angels 6

Red Sox reliever Jonathan Steele got the victory, and picked up a

pair of hits and two RBIs in an extra-innings game.

Jacob Rushing singled and had two RBI, and Dominic Granado had a

hit and drove in a run for the Red Sox.

The Angels’ Charlie Miller delivered his second home run of the

season and finished the game with two hits. Zach Bauer smashed a

three-run double and Luke Herrington and Aaron Rakhshani each added

two hits.

Yankees 5, Pirates 4

Shaun Thompson picked up the victory in his pitching debut for the

Yankees. Thompson also had a big game offensively with a two-run

double and single.

Adam Munoz had an RBI single and Kyle Curtis struck out eight in

four innings.

The Pirates’ Drew Daily went two for two with an RBI and Jake

Beardshear struck out five.

Cubs 14, Angels 1

The Cubs clubbed 12 hits in rolling to victory.

Ryan Ortolf not only recorded the pitching win, but also led the

Cubs on offense with three hits and three RBI.

Steven Malone had a double, an RBI single and scored three runs.

Clayton Mase had a pair of hits, drove in a run and scored three

runs, and Perry Clitheroe added a hit and two RBI.

Corey Hammond had an RBI single, which scored Jordan Bender, to

account for the lone run scored by the Angels.

Yankees 6, Red Sox 3

Ruben Munoz struck out eight without a walk and allowed just one

earned run in a complete game victory for the Yankees.

Eric Sickle ripped an RBI double and turned a double play, Munoz

and Troy Baljeu each doubled, and Adam Munoz added a two-run single

for the Yankees.

Jacob Rushing and Jonathan Steele each had a double, Dominic

Granado went two for two, and Jordan Sobelman and Scott Orel turned a

double play for the Red Sox.
