What a weekend to be here

This weekend has been one of those weekends in Newport-Mesa. Anywhere

you turned, there was a big community event.

It started Friday night with the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce

honoring Citizen of the Year Seymour Beek.

It continued Saturday with the Corona del Mar Scenic 5K run and

the annual Lions Fish Fry, which is still going strong this year and

raising money for a number of good causes around the Newport-Mesa

area.

This morning, you’ll have trouble getting onto Balboa Island,

which is playing host to the short, but spectacular Balboa Island

Parade.

Oh, and there’s been a little something called the Daily Pilot

Cup, the soccer tournament that draws several thousand youths onto

the playing field.

It’s a weekend when you’re always trying to catch your breath, as

fun and good causes mix together into an infectious blend.

So, how did you choose what to do?
